About CF61

Plans for the building

GVS has ambitious plans to improve the fabric of the building.

The building has been neglected for many years and requires considerable work to bring it up to date, for it to be viewed as safe and welcoming to all members of the community of Llantwit Major.

To this end GVS has started the process of refurbishment but the long term goal and vision for the building will require several building and refurbishment phases.

Phase One has involved many accessibility improvements with updates to the disabled facilities including the WC, main entrance, fire doors with vision panels, fire alarm with light enhancement, loop systems, signage, disabled parking etc. as well as bringing the building up to post-Grenfall fire regulations and improvements to the heating and water systems.

In 2020 we undertook a complete make-over of Hoddnant, our meeting room. The work included a new ceiling, flooring, a complete redecoration and the installation of a brand-new audio-visual set-up. The 75" TV and integrated speakers and camera means that the room is perfect for live streaming and video conferencing, but also provides the clearest projection and for presentations and films etc. The hall also had a new ceiling in 2021 and a complete re-decoration in 2022. This year the room now used for the Food Share Panrty has been completely re-imagined and turned into a purpose designed and smart new space.

Future phases (when funding has been successfully sourced) will provide the building with the total facelift that the architect’s drawings and plans depict which we will be working to ensure happen in the not too distant future.  The end result will be a building that is safe, fit for purpose and welcoming for all the community in the town of Llantwit Major.
